This is International Women’s Day, and we thought it was the perfect occasion to draw your attention to Mindful eating. Eating mindfully means allowing yourself to become aware of the positive and nurturing aspects of the food you’re eating, and using this knowledge to eat food that is satisfying and nourishing! Someone who is mindful of what they eat, accepts that their eating experiences are unique to them and gains the ability of making choices that support their health and well-being.
A great example of this is influencer Deliciously Ella! Food blogger Ella Woodward completely transformed the way she ate after being diagnosed with an illness called postural tachycardia syndrome, which can cause heart palpitations, chest pains and headaches. She describes her way of eating as whole foods and plant-based and says it was single handedly the best decision she has ever made.
Often the media encourages diets, particularly towards women, that can create negative feelings towards food and eating. Mindful eating promotes balance and choice instead of restriction and exclusion. Making sure your body gets the nutrients it needs shouldn’t feel like a chore or a diet, but a wholesome and fulfilling lifestyle!
